Mechanical Collet vs. Friction Rubber Gaskets
Traditional pump heads rely on squeezing a rubber washer against the external threads of a Presta valve stem. Under high compressed air pressures (exceeding 80 to 160 PSI), this rubber seal distorts, causing blow-offs or tearing against sharp valve threads. Prestacycle’s auto-lock Presta valve inflator head utilizes hardened internal locking jaws (collet system) that clamp around the stem automatically upon insertion. The seal is accomplished via a floating elastomer ring that expands against air pressure—the higher the internal pressure, the tighter the seal, without increasing wear on the valve.
- Automatic engagement: Simply push onto any standard Presta stem
- No lever force required: Eliminates thumb fatigue during 100+ tire setups
- Instant thumb-push release: Disengages cleanly without tugging valve stems
